This week on The John Maxwell Leadership Podcast, we're beginning a new series on problem-solving effectively. You see, you cannot give what you do not have. I ask about four people that I really believe could help me in the area of momentum. Im sure we have, because John has. Thats just somebody thats wanting to change for the sake of change. The best way I knew to do that as a conclusion to John and I saying Ive got to roll up the sleeves and get involved in whats going on in the organization, were these family rooms, Chris. I reviewed it this morning, Ill review it tomorrow morning, Ill review it Saturday, Ill review it Sunday. You talk about it, were talking about it on the podcast. But that was a real honor to me, Chris, that you would invite Stephanie and I to this. You see, you cannot give what you do not have. Because if you grow personally, you can be a great leader. Well, I like to be positive in my perspective. Because after I intentionally started growing, I made a commitment to grow as a leader. If youre going to grow and if Im going to grow, were going to grow intentionally. The first thing that you did was you said, Im going to go and Im going to reflect on what I heard. You do this every year. I think it comes from family and just understanding that I was born to lead. Hey, let me finish like I always like to do with a listener comment or question. So when people say, I like things to turn out better for me. But more importantly, you share that with specifically our leadership team every time you come in there. Heres what George said. For me, I started off with attitude and speaking because I was speaking, I was a pastor. John says early on in the lesson, What are you doing to develop yourself and others? I started writing, I became an author, I developed growth resources for other people. Theres some discouragement there, certain things, right? Assumption is a huge disappointment in life. So when I run into people and say, Well, I really want to be different. As soon as you made your first bad call, Earl Weaver would start on you. Im close to my team, Im much more engaged. Well, one is, if you can synthesize down what the real problem is and you can synthesize it down to as much simplicity as possible, youre going to then be able to build the best, comprehensive focused plan available. Ive read more books, not than you have, but that I did in the first couple weeks of last year because of the challenge that youre putting out with us.
